Conventional micro surfacing is a preventive maintenance and pavement repair treatment with standard 3% polymer modification of the asphalt base. It is used to treat oxidation and raveling, and can be applied to fill ruts. Conventional micro surfacing applications also result in increased surface friction, making road surfaces safer for drivers.
This treatment extends the service life of roads 5-7 years. Additionally, it can be applied as the top layer/final course in a cape seal application. Conventional micro surfacing is most suitable for use with Type II and Type III aggregate. Please note, cracks ¼ inch and greater should be sealed prior to a micro surfacing application.
